Which image formats can I compress?

This tool compresses JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG. Open a format page if you only have one type. Convert other formats to JPG first if you need to compress them here.

Will compressing an image reduce quality?

Balanced compression keeps more JPG detail. Maximum compression makes smaller JPGs and can reduce detail. PNG, GIF and SVG use lossless optimization, so the pixels stay the same. Compare the download with the original and keep the original file.

How many images can I compress at once, and is it free?

Compression is free and does not require an account. You can select up to 20 images, 10 MB each and 100 MB in total. Each image can be up to 20 megapixels and 10,000 pixels per side.

Are my images stored on the server?

Images are uploaded only when you start compression. The server returns the compressed file and does not keep a permanent copy after the request finishes. Read the privacy policy for details.

Does compression keep GIF animation and PNG transparency?

Yes. Animated GIFs stay animated, and transparent PNGs keep their transparent background. JPG does not support transparency: convert a transparent image to JPG and the background is filled.

Can I compress SVG files?

Yes. SVG files are optimized without changing how they look. An SVG that contains scripts or external resources is rejected for safety. Export a standalone SVG and try again.

Should I compress or resize an image first?

Compress to reduce file size. Resize when you need a specific width or height in pixels. After compression you can open the resize tool if the image still has more pixels than you need.
